Germany:Kölner Dom/Cologne Cathedral, Köln (UNESCO 1996 Wo rld Cultural Heritage Site)— City Landmark

Köln Hauptbahnhof (next to Cologne Cathedral)!

Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof  is a grand building was designed by the architects Hermann Eggert (the entrance wing and the facades) and Johann Wilhelm Schwedler (the iron-and-glass-halls).

frankfurt central stationThe neo-classical façade is finished with statues of day and night, and of Atlas holding up the globe.

frankfurt central station 1 In terms of railway traffic, Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof is the busiest railway station in Germany. By daily passenger volume, it ranks second together with Munich Central Station after Hamburg Central Station.

哈—Köln Messe/Deutz railway station across the river Rhine is just about 400 m. away from Köln Hauptbahnhof.                 p.s. Cologne and Frankfurt am Main has a railway service with Deutsche Bahn InterCity and ICE trains stopping at Köln Hauptbahnhof, Köln Messe/Deutz and Cologne/Bonn Airport.

Koln (2013) 001The two stations are linked by the Hohenzollernbrücke, a six-track railway bridge with passenger walkways on each side. It is the most heavily used railway bridge in Germany and total length of the Hohenzollernbrücke is 409.19 m..

p.s. The three humped iron tied-arch Hohenzollernbrücke is one of the eight bridges crossing the river Rhine in the city of Köln. It crosses the Rhine at 688.50 km.                        Originally (1907-1911), the bridge was both a railway and street bridge; however, after its destruction in 1945 and its subsequent reconstruction, it was only accessible to rail and pedestrian traffic.

Koln (2013) 006-1Since 2008 people have placed love padlocks on the fence between the sidewalk and the tracks.

Wilhelm I (King of Prussia and the first German Emperor)。 Friedrich III (King of Prussia and German Emperor)和威廉二世Wilhelm II (the last King of Prussia and German Emperor)。
