FACIL is nestled on the 5th floor inner courtyard of Hotel Mandala at Potsdamer Platz.
The restaurant has been serving elegantly light fare accented by purist luxury and modern avant-garde since July 2001.
The modern glass cube with floor-to-ceiling windows invited guest into a secret garden of bamboo- and maple-planted terrace; the hydraulic glass roof was opened a little bit to let in a light breeze. Honey-colored stone floors, polished mahogany, iGuzzini lamps and comfy Donghia chairs provide an atmosphere of sophistication that feels relaxed, not stuffy—just as Head chef Michael Kempf likes. “You can come in with jeans or Armani and feel comfortable,” he says. “It doesn’t matter.”
Born 1977, Chef Michael Kempf is the youngest Michelin-star chef in Berlin, also a Master Chef of Berlin 2010. He serves up a selection of dishes infusing traditional German ingredients with modern, haute-cuisine flair, gathering 80 percent of his kitchen’s ingredients from small local farmers. He believes that the product is the star. He changes the menu each month, following a two-week tasting period where the kitchen staff perfects new creations.
